The Archbishop thanked Peter for his work at The Record, 18 years in total, of which he was Editor for 13 years. As His Grace said, excusing himself of the pun, “. . . an extraordinary record.”
The Archbishop said that the role of Editor of The Record was an important position in the Archdiocese and he was sorry to see Peter go. He said Peter, with dedicated commitment, had made an extraordinary contribution to the Archdiocese in challenging and divisive times for the Church.
In reflecting on how Peter performed his role over the years, His Grace said Peter had conducted himself with great professionalism and we are thankful that he had always been determined to be faithful to the Church and faithful to our Catholic tradition and truth.
Peter thanked Archbishop Costelloe for his gracious words and wanted to thank his colleagues and the friends he made while working at the Record and in the Archdiocese, observing that they were among the finest men and women he had ever met and worked alongside.
