The Archives Office holds the sacramental records of St Mary’s Cathedral, together with some parish churches and chapels, which are listed below. We only provide certificates for baptisms, confirmations and marriages for which we hold a register. The certificate issued is an extract from the register not an original certificate.

The Archives Office maintains a Central Baptism Database which collects the records of all baptisms conducted in Archdiocesan parishes. Many parishes provide information to the Archives Office annually. If you do not know the parish in which you were baptised, we may be able to retrieve this information from the database and direct you to the relevant parish.

We do not provide sacramental information where the records are publicly available at the State Library of WA. Please check the State Library index before completing your form.  

The sacramental enquiry forms are: Request for copy of Baptism or Confirmation certificate form or the Request for copy of Marriage certificate form. Please provide identification.

Sacramental records can only be accessed by the individual to whom they relate or their legal guardian. Third party requests must provide authorised permission for access.  There are no fees for sacramental requests. Additionally, we hold some marriage dispensations and pre-nuptial inquiries which have the same access requirements as sacramental records.
