The Archives of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Perth (the Archives) is the repository of all inactive official Archdiocesan records of enduring religious, administrative, legal, fiscal, historical, evidential and/or informational value. The records relating to the history and development of the Catholic Church in Perth, preceding and subsequent to its establishment as a diocese in 1845, are part of the collection. Some non-official records with similar enduring value are also held.

The Archives holds records created and used by the Office of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Perth and those relating to Roman Catholic life and practice in Western Australia. It holds general material about the administration of the Archdiocese, Parishes, St Mary's Cathedral sacramental records and some other Baptism and Confirmation Registers.

The Archives does not hold records of individuals. There is a system of parish Archives in individual parishes. From 1900, parishes generally kept their own records, including Baptism and Confirmation Records. The Religious Orders and Catholic schools have their own archives.

The records of the Diocese of Geraldton (1898), Bunbury (1954) and Broome (1959), are their responsibility from the date of the commencement of each Diocese. New Norcia records from the date of its foundation in 1847 to the present, are held at the New Norcia archives.

The Catholic newspaper - "The Record" - is microfilmed from 1874-1980. The microfilms are held at the Battye Library of Western Australian History.
