Permanence Number 1
Welcome. We put a lot of effort into making our lives comfortable so that nothing can intrude on us and our family. This is important and very natural. But suffering has a way of breaking into this cocoon. This can lead to resentment, but more often it leads us to draw on the strength of the human spirit, our strength deep within. The gifts of faith, hope and love are always available to us. We don't have to wait for suffering to begin to develop them. Trust in the goodness of God gives us greater strength than trusting in material things. With God, we can cope with whatever comes our way. I'm Barry Hickey, Catholic Archbishop of Perth.
