Information

How does an Engaged Encounter Weekend Help us Prepare for Marriage?
It provides couples, through a series of talks, the opportunity to discuss openly and honestly with each other their future lives together: their desires, ambition, goals; their attitude about money, children, sex; their understanding of marriage as a couple's special relationship with God and how they see their roles in the church and in society.

Research indicates that couples who possess good communication, problem solving and decision making skills stand a much better chance of their marriage not only lasting but also being in a partnership with is filled with continuing fun, love and intimacy.

    When should a Couple Attend?
Any time prior to marriage, but preferably before engagement or as soon as possible after.

    What happens on the weekend?
The weekend involves a lot of time for private discussion.

Couples are presented with a series of topics designed to give an insight into marriage - the highs and lows - and to provide the skills needed to work through it al together.

Time is allowed after each topic for couples to reflect and discuss, their thoughts about the topic and their expectations about life together.

Do you have to be Catholic?
No -although the weekend is designed for couples who are being married in the Catholic Church, approximately half the couples who attend are planning an inter-faith marriage.
