Leavers' Week 
Welcome. What is commonly called leavers' week is actually the beginning of maturity. Dear young people, I hope you will mark the occasion with maturity. Some think that drunkenness and reckless behaviour are the way to mark the beginning of their maturity. Unfortunately, it too often sets a bad pattern for years to come. Some of you have already begun work in your chosen field, or as a way to build up financial resources for your studies. Others of you will spend time away with friends and allow the past to settle quietly into place as you adjust your attitudes towards the challenges ahead. The values you choose for yourself at this time will be of lasting importance. You are in my prayers. I'm Barry Hickey, Catholic Archbishop of Perth.
