Discalced Carmelite Nuns of the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel

The order was founded by St Teresa of Jesus in 1562 at Avila, Spain. It was introduced to Australia in the Archdiocese of Sydney from Angouleme, France by Cardinal Moran in 1885. First WA monastery founded at Nedlands from Sydney in 1935.
