In 1952 the WA government resumes land in the Kwinana area to establish a township in virgin bush, following a decision to commence heavy industrial development on the Kwinana waterfront. The initial town development essentially only comprised what is now known as the suburb of Medina. The people were mostly migrants from the UK and Europe.
In 1953, Archbishop Prendiville requested the Vincentian Fathers to take care of the Catholic community in Medina. Fr Gerard Harper CM was appointed first parish priest. People celebrated Mass in private houses at first then in the Medina Primary School. The Parish became known as “St Vincent's Catholic Parish, Medina..
St Vincent's Primary School was opened in December 1955, ready for the Christmas celebrations. The school was used as the parish mass centre until the new Medina St Vincent's Church was completed and blessed by Bishop Myles McKeon on 12 December 1968.
The Vincentian Fathers relinquished the running of St Vincent's Parish in 1994 and Fr Oswald Lewis was appointed the first Diocesan Parish Priest.
In 2004 the new St Vincent's School was opened in February with Kindergarten, Pre-primary and years 1 to 7.
On 7 March 2004, Archbishop Barry James Hickey, the Archbishop of Perth, blessed the new St Vincent's Church in a Solemn Dedication Mass.
