Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary

The Order was founded by Mary Ward, in 1609 at St Omer, Flanders. It was introduced to Australia in the Diocese of Ballarat from Ireland by Mother Mary Gonzaga Barry in 1875. First WA community established at Adelaide Terrace, Perth in 1897.
