Welcome. Can Australia survive without God? I don't think so. When our nation began we had freedom of religion but no established religion. Belief in God was pretty universal. Parliament began (and still begins) with the Lord's Prayer. Laws reflected Christian values. Today, religion is often not taught in Government schools. Prayer is rarely heard. In hundreds of thousands of families prayers are never said. In this spiritual vacuum people drift. Depression and suicide rates rise. Family life crumbles and violence increases. This is the perfect time to assert the need for God, for a return to prayer, community and spiritual values. I’m Barry Hickey, Catholic Archbishop of Perth. 6pm, Sunday 25 September 2005 - Belief In God
